Since 1999, Alex has been an invaluable member to New Era’s team of instructors. As New Era’s primary MS Office instructor, Alex bring many years of learning and teaching experience, both as a student and as an instructor. Alex’s education started at the University of Ottawa where he attained his Bachelor of Arts degree in 1997 and then moved to start his career in Calgary. While working towards his Bachelor of Education degree from the University of Calgary, Alex taught in Calgary’s high school and junior high school systems and later joined New Era’s team of instructors.
Whether it is an online or traditional classroom course, Alex ensures the highest level of program understanding for each one his students. Alex has assisted over 10000 students master their skills in over 100 different courses. With the introduction of MS Office 2007, Alex has consulted and assisted many organizations through their transition from 2003 to 2007 and will be assisting organizations in the future with the introduction of MS Office 2010. Aside from MS Office, Alex has taught courses and provided consultation to organizations for MS SharePoint implementation, maintenance and deployment.

With over 16 years of teaching experience, Jane Pratico is New Era's primary SharePoint and Adobe Creative Suite instructor. After attaining her Bachelor degrees in Arts and Education, Jane spent 5 years instructing in educational institutions across North America. However, in 1998, Jane joined New Era, as her love of Calgary had brought her back here.
Since joining New Era’s team, Jane has set the benchmark for the Adobe instructors in Calgary with her passion for teaching and for web and graphic design software. With many years of design knowledge, Jane brings a wealth of hands on experience to her students while incorporating formal instruction to ensure her students fully understand her material. Aside from Adobe Creative Suite, Jane’s graphic and technical talents have led her to SharePoint. For the past few years, Jane has both taught SharePoint courses and consulted with many organizations to implement and deploy their SharePoint projects.

After 20 years in various leadership roles in the business world, Tyler Huggins returned to his first love of educating people. As Business Soft Skills Manager for New Era Technology, he brings the insights and experiences of multiple industries to our clients. In addition to extensive reading, his knowledge has been gained from practical experience in many sectors, including automotive, IT, and oil and gas; and in roles ranging from supervisor to upper management, to ownership.
Tyler noted frequently that although many people were technically proficient, some lacked the interpersonal skills and ability to manage their productivity in a way that would improve their business and advance their career. Many of these people wondered why they could not get ahead in their organization. Others felt that some people were just “born leaders” or born with certain interpersonal skills. These same people were eager to take the latest computer course or industry certification, but what they really needed in order to become a good candidate to lead at work, to improve their personal lives, and to maximize work relationships, was development of some core personal skills. For the most part though, good opportunities to learn these skills in a structured setting have been hard to find.
Tyler felt there could be no better fit for him than to help others learn these productivity and interpersonal skills. He now does that through facilitating courses on things like how to set and achieve great goals, how to manage time properly, how to communicate effectively, how to deal with conflict, how to gain customer loyalty, etc. His status as a Microsoft Certified Trainer, and his 15+ years of public speaking experience, together with his “real life” business world knowledge combine to make him ideally suited to lead New Era’s Business Soft Skills department. After facilitating and consulting for hundreds of clients, Tyler has yet to receive any negative feedback in any of our surveys.
