Survey Insight: How Organizations are Staffing Their SharePoint Teams

Mindsharp have recently conducted their first annual survey to see how organisations are staffing their SharePoint teams. The survey results provide some interesting results.

One of the reoccurring themes with the results is that the vast majority of organisations that are using SharePoint as an end point solution and not an enterprise wide platform. This is surprising at first but after some consideration it makes a lot of sense. SharePoint as a product has only really matured as of WSS 3.0 and it would be considered a high risk investment to deploy such a young product enterprise wide. I believe as SharePoint 2010 registers wins divisionally then it will spread to other divisions. After enough divisions are onboard then it will have enough weight behind it to get the investment from the organisation to treat it as an enterprise wide solution. This is of course if SharePoint as an enterprise wide solution fits the business needs.
